Crime Details:REPORTED OFFENSE: Rape/Sexual Assault was reported to University Police on September 20, 2014 at 12:39 a.m. The reported assault occurred on September 19, 2014, along West College Avenue near the University’s Hammond Building at approximately 11:15 p.m. Hammond Building is located adjacent to College Avenue and Burrowes Road. SUSPECTS: The suspect, unknown to the victim, is described as a college aged, white male, approximately 5’06”, with blonde hair, a muscular build, and a full beard. The suspect was wearing a button down style shirt. The victim, a student, reported at approximately 11:15 p.m. on September 19, 2014, she was approached by an unknown male on the sidewalk on the south side of the Hammond Building and thrown to the ground. The male then sexually assaulted the victim and fled eastbound on foot towards Allen Street. It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties. • Avoid traveling alone at night. Walk with a friend or use the Safe Walk Service at 865-WALK (9255). • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, get to a safe place and call for help. • Use the buddy system and watch out for each other. • Do not accept rides or walking accompaniment from people you don’t know well and trust.
