Crime Details:In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a disturbing act of violence reported to have occurred on the North Campus bike trail, on the University Park campus of Penn State University. REPORTED OFFENSE: An Aggravated Assault was reported to have occurred on the university’s North Campus bike trail area at approximately 2:30 p.m. The North Campus bike trail is located in a wooded section between Sunset Park and the Penn State Arboretum, about two miles from central campus. SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a white male wearing all black clothing: black puffy jacket, black knit hat & black backpack; unknown facial hair. The suspect is believed to have a wound on his hand from having been bitten by the victim. The victim, a student, reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. she was assaulted with an edged weapon by an unknown suspect. It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties. University Police would like to remind our community: *Be aware of your surroundings *Do not walk alone.
