Crime Details:The State College Police Department along with the Ferguson Township Police and Patton Township Police Departments are investigating a rash of thefts from motor vehicles (car break ins) that occurred starting around September 2009 through early November 2009, usually during the overnight hours between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM. The joint police investigation has identified five male suspects ranging in age from 17 through 19 years of age. Large quantities of stolen items, to include numerous electronic items, were also recovered during the follow-up investigations. It was learned a majority of the items were stolen from unlocked vehicles parked in lots, garages and at private residences. The investigation further revealed the suspects committed the thefts around the west end of the Borough of State College, and numerous areas in Ferguson and Patton Townships. The State College Police maintains custody of some of the seized property and has been able to identify numerous victims to date and return their property. The State College, Ferguson and Patton Township Police Departments are asking for assistance from the residents that live in the west side of State College, specifically the areas mentioned above to check their vehicles for any stolen or missing items. Victims are asked to report items that were stolen or missing from their vehicles to their respective police department.
