Crime Details:The State College Police Department is investigating a rash of thefts from motor vehicles (car break-ins) that occurred during the early morning hours on May 17, 2009 between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.. At approximately 6:30 a.m. a witness observed a white male attempting to remove a bicycle near ?B? Building at the Nittany Garden Apartment Complex. The witness called police after the suspect male drove off on a bicycle believed to be stolen. State College Police officers stopped the suspect male in the Westerly Parkway Shopping Plaza driving a red mountain bike. The investigation revealed the white male juvenile was in possession of a stolen bicycle and also possessed a large quantity of items. The investigation further revealed the suspect committed the thefts on and around Southgate Drive and the Nittany Garden Apartment Complex. The State College Police maintains custody of all the seized property and has been able to identify five victims to date. The State College Police Department is asking for assistance from the residents that live in the west end of town, specifically the areas mentioned above to check their vehicles for any stolen or missing items.
